There is a wealth of research that tells us that our level of happiness is directly correlated with the satisfaction of our romantic relationships. When the relationship with our partner is suffering, we suffer as well. This is part of why I am so passionate about supporting couples in reconnecting and learning how to better communicate so that they can create a relationship that feels deeply satisfying and fulfilling.
A lot of us are not taught or modeled how to be in relationship well, leaving us confused and saddened when we cannot fully 'fix' or understand why our relationship may not be going as well as we would like. Using my training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and my background in Attachment Theory, I teach partners the skills and tools they need to be able to make contact with their partner, more deeply understand their own patterning and how it impacts their relationship, and how to better express and get their needs met.
Common issues I have worked with in my decade of private practice include:
rebuilding trust and safety after infidelity
working through issues around work and finances
supporting couples around whether or not they want to have children
finding common ground with parenting and/or co-parenting dynamics
exploring challenges with sex and intimacy
addressing insecurities and self-worth
I expect that the clients who come to see me are ready and willing to do the work both in (and out) of the therapy room. My high expectation of my clients is part of why I see success in the couples I work with. Building (or re-building) a strong, loving, and fulfilling relationship takes a commitment of time and energy.
In addition to my professional training and experience in private practice, I am licensed in both California and Colorado, hold a MA in Clinical Psychology with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University, and have written articles about relationships which have been featured in The Zoe Report, Bustle, and TheEveryGirl, among others.
